You bet! The Baltimore Orioles are right here in Fort Lauderdale for the “grapefruit league”. This is indeed a sports paradise all year long!
SHOPPING:
Did someone say “SHOPPING”? Better leave a little free space in that suitcase, because our area boasts some of the finest shopping anywhere in the US!! The fashionable Las Olas Boulevard is only minutes away, lined with streetside cafes, fine restaurants, chic boutiques, art galleries and more. Even closer is the beautiful Galleria Mall (yes, it is within walking distance), with such fine stores as Macys and Neiman Marcus. Numerous other malls of all shapes and description are scattered across this part of Florida, including world-renowned Sawgrass Mills – a sprawling outlet mall boasting over 350 stores - on the west side of town.
SIGHTSEEING:
Many people don’t realize how close we are to the Everglades. Go west on Interstate 595 and within 35 minutes from Tropi Rock, you’ll be able to take an airboat ride in gator country.
You can take a ride on either the Water Taxi or Jungle Queen to see “lifestyles of the rich and famous” along Fort Lauderdale’s miles of inland waterways. Our fair city, nicknamed the “Venice of America”, is easily the yacht capital of the world.
Right here in our own backyard, there are two parks (Bonnet House and Hugh Taylor Birch), both within easy walking distance.
- World-renowned Butterfly World is a short 30 minute ride.
- Miami’s South Beach is an easy day trip, 45 minutes drive to the south.
- Key Largo (home of America’s first undersea park) is 90 minutes away.
- Key West (southernmost point in the United States) is a 4 hour drive.
